Poison Free Methods for Gophers & Moles

February 15, 2025

While we always use caution when applying our various baits we completely understand concerns surrounding poison use!

Our initial “one time” gopher/mole service is trapping only.

During this service we will set lethal traps within the underground tunnel systems of these critters. We do not bait the traps with anything so there is no poison used. This service will continue as long as new activity is popping up. These traps do not pose a risk to anyone on the surface since they are totally underground. The only evidence of them you’ll see on the surface will be our white flags.

We also offer a trapping only option for our ongoing Gopher, Mole, and Vole Control Program.

Typically for this ongoing program we do a combination of baiting and trapping but we can offer a trapping only service if requested! The only downside is that we cannot trap for voles. This is because unlike gophers and moles they tend to live in large groups so trapping just isn’t an effective means of control. With our ongoing trapping only program we still come out unprompted about every 6 weeks or so and will place traps as needed for activity. It also includes unlimited service calls so you can have us out as often as you need us!

DIY Options

Non Toxic Repellents

Some customers have found success using the following methods:

  • VoleX – non-toxic pellet that works for a variety of rodents
  • Gopher Mesh/Gopher Baskets – Installed under your lawn or around your desired plants
  • Sonic Stakes – Stakes that emit a frequency that drive off gophers/moles
  • Non Desirable Plants – Plants like lavender, rosemary, eucalyptus are not enticing to gophers so planting them around your property may encourage them to look elsewhere for food

However, sometimes customers have still required our assistance despite using some of these methods.
